Prochaine réunion du conseil d'adminstration BES le 9
mai 2011
Verkiezingen 2011 : Zoals elke 3 jaar, vindt de
verkiezing van de 10 leden van het administratief comité van de BES plaats in
januari 2011.
Er kwamen voor 15 februari 116 geldige stembrieven binnen (54
franstalig, 62 nederlandstalig)
De resultaten van de verkiezingen zijn te vinden op de nieuwe
website: http://www.besweb.be/nl
Elections 2011: Comme tous les 3 ans, les élections des 10 membres du comité
d’administration de la BES ont eu lieu en janvier 2011.
116 bulletins de vote valides (54 francophones et 62 néerlandophones) ont
été dépouillés le 15 février.

Tijdens de SECURA vakbeurs (23 tot 25
maart 2011) zal de BES
op vrijdag 25 maart om 10u tot 12u een conferentie-workshop
organiseren met de bedoeling ergonomie voor de personen van de ondernemingen
zichtbaarder te maken en beter te definiëren. Titel van deze conferentie: een
noodzakelijk antwoord bij de hedendaagse risico’s, zoals
overbelastingsproblemen, maar ook voor de klassieke risico's aanwezig in uw
onderneming…
Deze tweetalige uiteenzetting werd gepresenteerd door Alain Piette en Roeland
Motmans. Er waren een vijftigtal toehoorders.

Durant le salon SECURA (23 au 25 mars 2011)
la BES a organisé
le vendredi 25 mars de 10h à 12h une conférence-atelier ayant pour
but de rendre plus visible et de mieux définir l'ergonomie aux personnes
des entreprises. Titre de cette conférence: L'ergonomie: une réponse
indispensable face aux risques émergents, comme par exemple les troubles
musculosquelettiques, mais aussi face aux risques classiques présents dans vos
entreprises….
Cette conférence bilingue a été présentée par Alain
Piette et Roeland Motmans devant une cinquantaine de personne.

Workshop antropometrie 15 juni– Leuven (FABER)
Om de
zichtbaarheid bij onze eigen leden te vergroten ontstond de idee om kleine, informele
studiedagen te organiseren. In de workshop antropometrie wordt het rekenen met
tabellen bediscussieerd aan de hand van concrete praktijkvoorbeelden en normen.
Bedoeling is om ervaringen en kennis uit te wisselen. Inschrijven kan nog via roeland.motmans@idewe.be

Op 15 maart vond
in Genk de PreNNE plaats van PreBes. BES NL vaardigtsteeds twee sprekers af om
te spreken over ergonomie. Deze keer werd de ontwerpkant van ergonomie
toegelicht.

Op de luchthaven
van Zaventem zijn de informatieborden om de mensen naar de juiste plek te
wijzen vervangen. Hiervoor werd gezocht naar begrijpbare symbolen om zo weinig
mogelijk tekst te moeten gebruiken. Tekst moet namelijk steeds vertaald worden,
waardoor het veel plaats inneemt en het onverzicht verloren gaat. Aan de hand
van gebruiksstudies werden de knelpunten van de huidige infoborden opgespoord.
Van daaruit werd een nieuw ontwerp ontwikkeld, dat nu te vinden is op de
luchthaven.
Vanuit de
architectuur wou men groot warenhuizen ontwerpen met het oog op ouderen.
Hiervoor vertrok men van een klassieke marktsegmentatie, maar de “silver
shoppers” laten zich niet zomaar in een vakje duwen. Nieuwe
marktsegmentatiemodellen gaan uit van de beleving en zo kwam men bij ergonomie
terecht. Door gangen breder te maken, de rekken minder laag, heldere
verlichting, grotere labels,… probeerden de architecten van het winkelen een
aangename ervaring te maken. Resultaat was dat ook jonge moeders met
kinderbuggy’s of boodschappentassen in de hand ook liever kwamen. Hierdoor
lag de verkoop 25% hoger dan verwacht.

Ergonomics and Patient Safety (HEPS 2011), June 22-24 2011, Oviedo (Spain)
The third HEPS conference, jointly
organized by IEA, AEE and SIE will focus on the challenges healthcare
ergonomics faces in designing healthcare services as the co-product of the
interaction between clinicians and patients. In particular, HEPS 2011 will have
specific tracks dedicated to patient centred design of biomedical devices, intelligent
information systems and clinical pathways for the acute and chronic conditions.
Abstract submission is open until January 24th 2011, accepted papers will have

The forgotten MSDs": Lower limbs MSD - mid and long
term effects

osteoarthritis with history of recurrent exposure to manual handling of loads
over 20 kg and work participation: a population-based study of men and women
Objectives We reviewed work histories of manual handling
of loads >20 kg in relation to hip osteoarthritis by age, exposure and work
participation.
Methods A nationally representative sample of 3110 Finnish men
and 3446 women aged 30–97 was recruited. Diagnosis of hip osteoarthritis was
based on standardised clinical examination by trained physicians. Previous
exposure to physically loading work was evaluated through interviews. Logistic
regression was used to estimate associations between work factors and hip
osteoarthritis.
Results 1.9% of men and 2.1% of women had hip osteoarthritis.
Almost half the men and a quarter of the women had recurrently handled heavy
loads at work. Subjects who had manually handled loads >20 kg had a 1.8-fold
increased risk of hip osteoarthritis compared to non-exposed references, when
age, body mass index, traumatic fractures and smoking were accounted for.
Results were similar for men (OR 2.0; 95% CI 1.0 to 4.0) and women (1.8; 1.1 to
2.8). In a sub-analysis of subjects with hip replacement, the OR was 1.7 (1.0
to 2.9). Risk increased first after 12 years' exposure: among men it was 2.2
(0.8 to 5.9) for 13–24 years' exposure, and 2.3 (1.2 to 4.3) for >24 years'
exposure. Among women it was 3.8 (1.7 to 8.1) for 13–24 years' exposure. Work
participation among men aged <60 years with hip osteoarthritis was 20% lower
compared with subjects without osteoarthritis.
Conclusions A work history of manual handling of loads >20
kg showed a strong association with hip osteoarthritis in all age groups except
the youngest.
